Description of CoursesLife SupportDescription: Basic life support training or commonly known as First Aid Training aims to prepare care workers on basic procedures involved in the most common emergency situations. This also aims to ensure that care workers would be able to provide initial aid for the service user in case of any unwanted accident or injury. Death, Dying and BereavementDescription: This course are for care workers who will be looking after people who are terminally ill. Supporting people who are facing death or bereaved is one of the primary aims of this course. The main topics that will be discussed on this course are as follows:
Dementia Care in the Domiciliary SettingDescription: This is the first of the three levels of Dementia Training. This course focuses on developing dementia care skills and employing ways in which care workers can provide care for people suffering from dementia. Topics that will be covered in this training include improving understanding of the communication difficulties that can be experienced, whilst also considering how feelings can be expressed through behaviour, developing good verbal and non - verbal communication skills in care workers and encourage them to consider the factors that can further improve effectiveness, exploring ways in which people with dementia can be engaged in activities to improve their quality of life whilst keeping them safe at the same time, and encouraging the use of person - centred skills. Dementia Care for Managers and SupervisorsDescription: This is the last part of the three - series training on Dementia which is designed to assist those who manage or supervise the provision of social care to those with dementia. Dementia Care for Managers and Supervisors consider the management issues relating to the provision of person - centred dementia care services.
Dignity in CareDescription: This course will focus mainly on promoting respect and dignity to care workers when dealing with vulnerable adults may it be in a residential or domiciliary setting. Also, this training course will also focus on best practices which aims to promote the rights, privacy, confidentiality and dignity of the service users. Food HygieneDescription: This course aims to train care workers on how to observe proper food and personal hygiene when preparing food for the service user. Some of the important topics that will be discussed on this training includes when to wash your hands and to wear protective equipment when preparing food and the proper way of handling, storing and serving food. The training will also focus on the importance of maintaining a clean environment. Health and SafetyDescription: This course aims to promote awareness on health and safety at all times. The course will start with the discussion of certain laws and legislations governing health and safety. The training will also tackle the importance of conducting risk assessment and how it is related to the care plan. Some of the important topics on this course includes the common risks and hazards that a care worker might encounter, how to respond to emergency cases like in case of fire, accident or incident. Home EconomicsDescription: Also known as home management, this course will provide training to care workers that aims to give knowledge on the principles of basic home management such as cleaning, managing finances, cooking, shopping or even responding to emergencies like fire or any other home - related accident. Infection ControlDescription: Infection is everywhere , so it is important for care workers to have knowledge on the prevention of infection specially when working with the service user. The training will be using real - life care setting wherein several diseases and infections can easily be spread.
Medication; Induction and AdministrationDescription: This course aims to cover the important factors that a care worker should know when dealing with medication. The training will start by introduction of several pieces of legislations governing the administration of medicine. Some key topics include the classification of medication, types of medication, how to deal with medication when working with other professionals, maintaining medication records, the collection, storage and disposal of medication, principles of safe handling of medication, how to support an individual who prefers to do self - medication, how to properly administer medication, reporting mistakes and errors and recognising and reporting changes about the individual. Also, case studies will be presented in order for the trainees to visualise a more realistic care setting. Moving and HandlingDescription: This training will help care workers deliver practical training that promotes safe moving principles. This course will focus on proper use of moving and handling equipment as well as in assisting service users in their daily lives. This training will also enable care workers to identify the importance of providing assistance centred on the needs of the service user whether working unaided, as part of a team or with equipment. Needs of the Service UserDescription: In order to come up with an effective care plan, it is imperative to determine the needs of individuals, through then we can only properly provide care and service. This training aims to introduce care workers to the basic types of needs that individuals have and these needs can be met. Apart from the individual's basic needs, special cases and requirements will also be discussed (e.g. Individuals with mental health problem and certain type of disability. Principles of Person - Centred CareDescription: Person - centred care aims to deliver care that is pitched just right for the service users. This principles strives to provide care in a holistic way - meaning the focus of care is not only on the physical aspect of the individual, rather consideration is also given to the individuals' mental, emotional, medical, etc. aspect. This is the principle that this course aims to inculcate to the attendees of this course. The training will also discuss the values underlying person - centred care and how these values can be incorporated to care workers' daily tasks. Role of a Care WorkerDescription: This course aims to introduce care workers to the daily tasks that they will be carrying out and how this tasks can be translated to activities - in line with the principles of person - centred care. Policies and procedures of respected agencies will also be discussed on this training as well as the importance of the existence of such policies. Additional topics that are included on this training are the importance of maintaining boundary between personal and professional relationship and how to work collaboratively with other professionals in order to Safeguarding Vulnerable AdultsDescription: Care workers should be trained properly and effectively on how to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse. This course aims to improve care workers' awareness on the common types of abuse and how to respond to an abuse if you feel that the individual is being abused. In order to make the awareness more effective, the training will be using portrayals that depicts real - life situations and conditions. Several pieces of legislations relating to the protection of vulnerable adults will also be discussed on the training. Understanding DementiaDescription: This is the second part of the three - part series training for dementia awareness. This course endeavours to deliver awareness on the common myths and beliefs and how these will impact the quality of care being provided, main conditions that may cause dementia and how to provide person - centred care to individuals suffering from dementia. ![]() |
